Confederations of African football(CAF) president Patrice Motsepe has rubbished online rumors that the Africa cup of nations will be postponed.

Speaking during the inspection of  the various stadia that will be used during the tournament in Cameroon yesterday, the CAF president said the tournament will go on as planned and has advised football lovers on the continent to ignore the rumors as they are not true.

He also urged Africans to trust the continent’s football mother body , CAF, and emphasized that the 33rd edition of the Africa cup will  kick off as planned and it will be a success.

The Africa cup of nations is the continent’s biggest football showpiece and it’s set to kick off on 9th January to 6th  February 2022 in Cameroon.

Earlier this week, reports in Europe were that CAF was contemplating on cancelling the tournament due to the covid-19 fourth wave global outbreak as some clubs feared to release African stars for the showpiece.

But Motsepe has rubbished all those reports and further called on Africans to top being over critical of their own people instead support them.
