The football association of Malawi(FAM) has rubbished reports that it is in talks with Spanish trainer Jordi Condom to take over the Flames coaching job.
Reports made rounds on Monday morning suggesting that the association had reached advanced talks with the former Barcelona youth coach to be appointed as new coach for the Malawian national team who are preparing for the Cameroon African cup of nations.

Jordi Condom who is the current coach for Belgian club Seraign fc was reported to be in talks with the malwian FA for a possible move before January.

However, according to a press statement issued by the FAM secretary general Alfred Gunda , the association has distanced itself from the reports and that Meck Mwase is the national team coach with his contract still running up to February 2023.
The association says, it is not recruiting any coach as they are only concentrating on preparing for Afcon next year with their current coach who helped the team qualify.

Malawi will be making their third appearance at the Africa cup of nations next in Cameroon after 11-years absence from the tournament and preparation have advanced with some soccer fans suggesting that the FA should hire an expatriate coach following their poor performance in the world cup qualifiers.

But the FA says it has already hired Marian Mario as technical director to boost their technical bench ahead of the Africa cup of nations which is set to kick off in January next year.
