The President of Zambia Hakainde Hichilema has sent a hearty best wish message to the Zambia womens national soccer team who are at the 2022 Morocco womens Africa cup of nations.
The girls who are without some of their star players which include Olympic record breaker Barbara Banda have been urged to take the WAFCON seriously as it presents an opportunity to qualify to the next edition of the FIFA Womens World Cup next year.

President Hichilema wrote on his official Facebook page;
“Best wishes to the Copper Queens as they kick off their Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) journey in Morocco today (July 3, 2022).
“We are proud of the steps you have made so far including the historic Tokyo Olympic participation highlight.

“The WAFCON presents an opportunity for the Copper Queens to qualify to the FIFA World Cup pencilled for Australia-New Zealand next year. As government, we have spared no effort in ensuring that you are supported every step of the way.
“Go get them girls, we are rooting for you!
We love you
Bally.” He concluded.

The copper queens kicked off their campaign at the WAFCON with a draw against Cameroon on Sunday, and will look to come back stronger tomorrow and record their first win when they face a Tunisia side that beat Togo 4-2 to top the group ahead of Zambia and Cameroon.
