Zambian forward Patson Daka on Saturday became the first Zambian in football history to score in the English premier league when he opened his Leicester city deadlock against Manchester United.
The 24-year old Leicester city summer signing who has now scored 28 goals in 30 league appearances for both his former Club Red Bull Salzburg and Leicester city went in the history books as the first Zambian to ever find the back of the net in the English top flight league.

Daka scored the fourth goal in additional time from a Youri Tielesman free kick as he beat Manchester’s Harry Maguire to bake a soft tap-in behind the back of the net in the right corner after being introduced in the 77th minute as Leicester city thumped United 4-2 at the king power stadium.

He is only the firth player from his country to take part in the competition, after Neil Gregory (Ipswich Town), Emmanuel Mayuka (Southampton) Collins Mbesuma (Portsmouth) and Enock Mwepu who currently plays for Brighton Hove and Albion.
Other Zambians that featured for English clubs include Fred Mwila and Emenet Kapengwe who both played for Aston Villa in the lower division of English football for only a season.

The former Zambian super league side Kafue Celtics and power Dynamos player, has also made his team mates send him congratulatory messeges on his achievement with the notable one being Jarmie Vardy who is seen as his predecessor in the next coming seasons at the club.

The English red hot striker Vardy, took to his social media platforms to congratulate Daka who was signed as his long term successor and also told the press how he was “over the moon” for him.
“It’s brilliant for him (Daka) , he’s been working so hard in training and he knows that when he comes in , it’s about making an impact and you’ve seen what it meant for him with the celebration.”
