Can Barbara Banda lead copper queens to first Olympic win?

All eyes will be on history maker Barbara Banda who on Wednesday become Africa’s first female to score a hatrick at the Olympic games in history when Zambia will be seeking for their first ever victory in women’s football at the multi-sports event.

The copper queens who are AFRICA’S sole representatives at the 2020 Olympics will this Saturday take to the pitch again in another Group-F encounter against China.

They suffered a massive defeat in their first match against Netherlands who thrashed them 10 goals to 3 to set the record of the highest scoring game ever in the history of the Olympics.

But they will be looking to redeem themselves when they meet China who are also yet yo record a win at the 2020 Olympics.

China suffered a 5-0 defeat when they were beaten by Brazil in their opening match.

Six times FIFA women’s player of the year award winner found the back of the net twice in the match which exposed China’s porous defense.

However, the Zambian defense is equally porous and it will maybe a 50/50 state of affairs for both the Chinese girls and the copper queens who will go head to head on Saturday to seek their first win at the Olympics.

It may again rain goals for the unstoppable Barbara who looks too lethal for defenders to handle at the Olympics.

Going by her last performance, it may just be a question of ‘how many girls will she score?’ and not ‘Will she score?, For she has proven beyond reasonable doubt that she is a thorn in the flesh of defenders.
